Replacement Fire Rope

Old woodburning stoves used a ceramic fire rope to seal the stove door or doors, this old ceramic rope is liabe to compress over the years of use and no longer form a tight seal which can allow smoke to escape into the room.
If your woodburning stove has insufficient rope around its doors, and glass if fitted it will not burn efficiently. Fire rope is also be used to seal stove sections in vertical section stoves where the sections stack on top of each other. .

Older fire rope can withstand very high temperatures but sometimes woodburning stoves are over fueled and allowed to run too hot which can damage the rope seals between the stove body and the chimney and between stove sections. Replacement Fire rope can be fitted using a high temperature fire rope adhesive – or fire rope glue. The fire rope glue holds the fire rope in place, usually in a channel that has been cast into the case of the woodburning stove door.

Replacement Fire Bricks and Cement

Firebrick is used in many wood burning stoves to protect steel or cast iron and increasie firebox temperatures for better combustion. New wood burning stoves use a light weight low density firebrick for improved performance. When replacing any fire brick it’s important to replace with it with the same type of firebrick that you are removing. You do not need to replace cracked bricks straight away but if the firebrick has broken up and the void is exposing iron or steel case to the fire it should be replaced.The fire bricks in most woodburners
are a standard size, which is half the size of a normal house brick.

Replacement Fire Glass

The glass in a woodburning stove should never need replacing, but if the glass gets broken in transit or you buy a second hand wood burner with broken glass there are several companies who will sell you fire proof glass of the size that you need for your stove.

Modern wood burning stoves use a clear ceramic material instead of the tempered glass that older wood burning stoves used. This ceramic material is usually called stove glass for simplicity and you can usually interchange stove glass with traditional temperered glass. Modern stove glass will not break with heat generated by wood burners, but it can break if the retaining screws are over-tightened during the installation process.

Hey,
We are looking for a replacement door for a Piazzetta wood stove. Model 904 grey, manufactured in 1988.
Having lots of trouble getting one from Piazzetta.
Any help or suggestions for next step would be GREATLY appreciated.
