The joists were originally intended to be used in the roof, but we cut them in half to use on the mezzanine

We used the original spacings and holes from the original oak joists, we had to enlarge them vertically to accomodate the new joists.

Originally the barn had a ‘loft’ at the front, we removed all the original rotten joists, and replaced with new timber.

Whilst the chipboard might have had some water resistant properties, unfortunaley it did not survive very long after the tarpaulin had been blown off it!
